"I wear scrubs to work everyday, so when I'm not I usually wear jeans and a cute top, or dress up a little more for a date or work dinner. I would love some great jeans. I also love prints and anything I can wear with white pants/shorts. I love detailed pieces. I prefer dresses to skirts."
I also linked to my Pinterest board, which my stylist referenced in her note, so I do think they actually look at these things.
So the stylist I was assigned was Kristen I, and she did a great job and definitely exceeded my expectations. I have a confession to make though. I cheated and looked to see what I was receiving. I think this was good for me because it made my expectations more realistic, but some of the items I as unable to find, and so I ended up with some pleasant surprises.
I would have pictures of my box and packaging, but my sweet husband helped me out with opening it and was a little quicker than I could be. Here is the note that was included from my stylist:
1. Skies are Blue Zala Dress ($68):
This is one that I had looked up and was able to find one example of it, and I have to say I was not excited. Compared to some of the things I had seen people get from Stitchfix in the past, this dress seemed a little boring. It ended up being a little better than I expected, but still not worth the price. It has some fun detail on the neckline and the back. (Confession - I put this dress on backwards at first and I really wasn't a fan of that.)
Verdict: RETURNED
2. Level 99 Glenda Straight Leg Jean ($98.00):
3. Collective Concepts Ardenas Split Neck Blouse ($58.00):
So for the jeans. I was amazed that these actually fit. They were a petite version, so the length was actually really good for me. These are a dark wash jean, which I do tend to wear the most (and already have 2-3 pairs.) For the price tag I just don't know that I can do it. There just wasn't anything special about them, except for how awesome they fit. Verdict: Probably return?? I'm still not sure.
And the top. This shirt was not for me. I didn't love the paisley pattern or the color palette really. It was a petite version and the arm holes and tightness around the waist were just a little too small. Overall it felt too boxy for me. Verdict: RETURNED
4. Olive & Oak Makridge Crew Neck Top ($58):
This was my favorite item opening the box. The colors and pattern were definitely for me. I asked for tops that I could wear with white pants and this looked so good. This was chosen for me based on this pin with a similar top. So the fit is amazing, pattern is amazing, love the neckline, but there's one problem. The hook and eye feature on the back of the top will not stay fastened for anything. I tried it. My husband tried it, and if miraculously they do all get fastened, as soon as I move they pop open. Not ok and not worth 60 bucks. I was actually really sad about this, and hoping mine is just defective.
Verdict: RETURNED (very reluctantly)
5. Fun2Fun Broden Crochet Neckline Top ($38):
This was the least expensive item in my box and something that I would probably not try on if I saw it in a store. The fabric is really light and soft, and the crochet work at the top is really pretty. As seen below, it looks really nice with white pants and I think this could actually be more versatile than I gave it credit for.
Verdict: KEPT
So I'm thinking the only thing I'll probably end up keeping is the crochet top so I don't lose my $20 styling fee. I would be open to maybe doing Stitchfix again, but I do wish the price points were slightly lower. I've heard they try to keep the box total around $200-250, but mine was $320. If you keep the whole box, you get a 25% discount, but this time that's not for me. I am someone who enjoys shopping and finding a deal, so I think this is most useful as a styling tool for me to help me to try things that I may not pick out on my own. And it was definitely fun to get my box and try on the things at my house. I had a friend visiting for the weekend and she had never heard of Stitchfix. Her comment was that everything was very flattering, which I agree with. Do you agree with what I kept and sent back?
If you've been thinking about trying Stitchfix, I recommend giving it a try to see if it may be for you, and I would appreciate if you use my referral link!
